Abstract

The article determines motivation role in the formation of a multilingual personality ready for active and productive activity under the conditions of multilingualism. The notion of motivation to learn foreign languages is considered basing on the analysis of works in the field of psychology, pedagogy and methods of teaching foreign languages. The paper reveals the structure of educational motivation and the ways of motivating the schoolchildren learning two and more foreign languages. The authors present the results of diagnosing a complex structure of motives, predicting goals and determining factors affecting increase in motivation basing on an authorial questionnaire.
