Abstract

The article reveals S. Grappelli’s contribution to the development of jazz art, which is one of the most sustainable types of contemporary music culture. Any of his many styles cannot be grasped apart from understanding the time in which he functioned. Jazz is not measured by the number of beats. It can be understood only in the historical, socio-economic, communicative and psychological context of cultural processes.By analyzing S. Grappelli’s play, one can understand and develop the principles of jazz harmony, rhythm, form and aesthetics that jazz carries. His jazz style is characterized by extremely deep aesthetics, ease of performing improvisation. The musical legacy left behind by S. Grappelli is an inexhaustible source and a whole encyclopedia for generations to come.It was found that collaboration with renowned jazz guitarist D. Reinhardt played an important role in S. Grappelli’s life. Without limiting his career as a musician to playing with the “Hot Club” quintet, S. Grappelli has performed with many musicians on various stages of the world. He has recorded an extremely large number of records (more than 200) with such jazz stars as Bill Coleman, Barney Kessel, Coleman Hawkins, Clark Teri, Han Jones, Tirk Hin Hyes, Martian Solyar, Philip Katherine, and Oscar Petersen. Concert records have always been successful and popular, and some of them, especially since the mid-to-late 1970s, are true masterpieces of jazz violin. Particularly noteworthy are the albums “Parisian Thoroughfare”, recorded with Roland Hann, as well as “Live At The Queen Elizabeth Hall”.S. Grappelli has also worked with other violinists, including Ray Nance, Eddie South, Jean Luke Ponty, Steve Smys, Joe Venutti, Didy Lockwood and, perhaps most famously, Yehudi Menuhin. There is so much good and love in S. Grappelli’s music. Its light, clear, and brilliant fulfillment carries with it the perfection and mystery of human nature as the creation of God.
