Abstract
The purpose of this study is to longitudinally verify the effect of young adults volunteer activity on life satisfaction and to seek the general educational direction of university social service for revitalizing volunteer work. The subject of this study is 3,587 adults who are in young adults, and the analysis data is data from the 5th to 14th years of the Korea Welfare Panel, and the latent growth curve modeling was used as the analysis method. The analysis results are summarized as follows. First, as a result of the unconditional model analysis, it was found that the trajectory of life satisfaction in young adults gradually increased over time. Second, as a result of analyzing the effect of volunteer activity on the life satisfaction trajectory through a conditional model, adults who participated in volunteer activity showed high life satisfaction at the starting point, but life satisfaction slowly increased as time passed. In the sociodemographic factors affecting the trajectory of life satisfaction, only the initial values were significant for gender, education, and age, and only the change rate for labor participation was significant. Income level and health status showed significant both the initial value of life satisfaction and the rate of change. Based on the research results that volunteer activities in young adults affect the trajectory of life satisfaction, policy and practical directions for general education of university social service that can activate volunteering are presented.
