Abstract

In modern aesthetic art, nail art is a part of coordination to maximize the hands and toes’ aesthetic values and to express personality. In this rapidly changing modern society, the nail industry is fast growing to meet consumer needs, and do-it-yourself (DIY) nail art is evolving into an industry in itself. This study attempted to approach nail art as ‘a new medium of communication’ reflecting the human inside by avoiding confrontation between the mind and body through jewelry after deconstructing the stereotype that nails are a part of a human body, merely protecting fingertips and tiptoes’ through deconstructivism. It addressed problematic nails through manicures and pedicures without using any UV gel, parts, or tips, and their high artistic and aesthetic values were confirmed. In other words, the expansion of nail art to new sectors is possible. Also, it is required to keep developing new and unique nail designs in pursuit of new patters. It is anticipated that the study results would lead to systematic studies in the nail industry and help new and differentiated nail markets stay competitive.
