Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate and analyze the perception structure about sport injury rehabilitation between an athlete and a coach. Three formal and current athletes who have experienced sport injury rehabilitation after injury and three formal and current coaches who have taught the injured athletes were selected as a participant for this study. As a measurement tool, 1:1 in-depth interview with using semi-structured questions was conducted in non-contact(Zoom) or face-to-face manner. The results were derived as follows through transcription process and triangular verification for data. Firstly, although athletes and coaches agreed that injury was an inevitable part of the athletes in common, there were some differences in perception of injury recovery between athletes and coaches. Secondly, the athletes and coaches recognized the need for sport injury rehabilitation after injury, but the coaches had lower confidence in the rehabilitation training than the athletes and had a somewhat negative perception, indicating that there was a difference in perception between athletes and coaches. Finally, the athletes and coaches demonstrated that sport injury rehabilitation actually helped to recover from the injury in the athletes.
