Abstract

This study aimed to understand the psychological characteristics of college studentsmaintaining Non-Suicidal Self-Injury(NSSI). The Rorschach case illustration(Weiner, 2005) wasused, it was divided into 4 areas: cognitive characteristics, stress coping, self and interpersonalperception, and emotional characteristics. With that 8 categories and 21 subcategories werederived and psychological characteristics were synthesized and presented along with thefrequency of cases. As a result 'inaccurate perception and interpretation of a particular situation'and 'lack of expectations for positive interpersonal interactions' were presented as commonpsychological characteristics of NSSI. And 'X-%>.20, X+%<.70, XA%<.77 & WDA%<.80', 'LowPure H, COP=0 & AG=0 or 1' derived from subcategories were presented as meaningful partsof Rorschach responses.
