Abstract

The article considers principles and methodology of interpretation and lexicographical description of a word in a lyrical text. The study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the lexeme “light” in the context of A. Blok’s “Verses about the Beautiful Lady” taking into account combinatory semantic increments. Originality of the paper involves introducing new information about A. Blok’s individual style into scientific circulation. The research findings allow concluding that light is an integrator, which organizes A. Blok’s lyric system. Light is an attribute of the Beautiful Lady, imperceptible sign, allurement, divine mystery, revelation. The Light of the Beautiful Lady possesses powerful creative force.
