Abstract

The purpose of this study is to provide basic information needed for the reflection of novice counselors in the future by looking at the experiences of novice counselors’ reflective writings. For this purpose, nine interviewees who had experienced reflection writing by applying Giorgi’s phenomenological research method were interviewed and analyzed. Data analysis showed 531 meaningful units, 15 subcomponents, and 5 final components. The results of this study are as follows: ‘Recognize inner emotions and comfort oneself’, ‘Experience interactions with deeper relationships’, ‘Pursue mature life and professional growth’, ‘Seeing oneself’, and ‘Getting a feeling of control through integrated experiences’. Through this study, it can be meaningful to reveal the essential structure and process by studying introspective counselor’s experience of introspective writing in depth. It can also be expected that reflection writings can be used as a basic data for self-reflection of a counselor and help to improve and promote professionalism.
