Abstract

In terms to indoor air quality management, it is essential to regulate the emission of pollutants from wood products. The regulations and standards for pollutants emission mainly target the flat type. However, wood products are manufactured and used in various forms. Therefore, the exposed area indoors of wood products is analyzed, and the necessity of management is reviewed in this study. The ratio of the indoor exposed area of the molding, which is a non-flat-type product, in apartment houses of three sizes was up to 6%. Doors and built-in cabinets, which are flat type products, were calculated for 4% and 8%, respectively. These results confirmed that the used area was small compared to the floor and wall. As identified in the previous study, assuming that the emission rate of pollutants from moldings is not high, the pollutant emissions from wood products analyzed in this study would insignificant affect indoor air quality.
