Abstract

The relevance of the study relates to the crisis phenomena in the theory and practice of the formation of Russian civic identity of students in modern socio- cultural conditions, the need to find new methods, approaches and issues of psychological and pedagogical support for the socialization of a citizen in modern society. The condi- tions and possibilities of using commemoration as the most important tool for the deve- lopment of historical memory are considered. The article presents the theoretical substan- tiation of the use of memory practices as a basic educational activity in the formation of civil identity of schoolchildren. The directions for the development of historical memory research in modern his- tory and sociology are identified on the basis of the analysis of current domestic and Eng- lish-language scientific works. The structure of commemorative practice as a mechanism for the formation of the Russian civic identity of students is described. The author's forms of organizing memory practices in the field of civic education of schoolchildren are pro- posed. It is concluded that it is necessary to study the possibilities of commemorative practices in organizing educational work, which determines the need to adapt to the tasks of pedagogical research methods and techniques of memory history and enables to expand the field and potential of the formation of the Russian civic identity of students.
