Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the self-directed learning ability profiles of transitional students from before to after curriculum based on core competencies of college students’ data, as well as the transition process of student groups and the predicted effect of competency factors. Correlation analysis, latent profile, latent transition, and logistic regression analyses were conducted using data from 421 college students. The results were as follows: First, the latent groups of college students were classified into the three group types each respectively with ‘Low’,‘Middle’,‘High’self-directed learning ability type respectively. Second, the gap between low and high self-directed learning ability type appears to be greater. Third, concerns for self-leadership were the biggest predictor that increased the probability of transition to high self-directed learning ability type.
