Abstract

The article examines lexical means verbalizing the concept “time” in English proverbs and sayings. The nature of time phenomenon and the role of the concept “time” in the language system are also briefly described. The groups of lexical units that verbalize temporality in the English language are analyzed, as well as the results of the analysis of proverbs and sayings containing these lexical items. As the result of the study, thematic groups which define common features of the concept “time” in phraseological world image of the speakers of English are presented.
