Abstract

A life cycle assessment (LCA) was performed to evaluate the potential environmental impact on the producing process of artificial reefs which are structure used for increasing fisheries resources. A cube-type artificial reef and a jumbo-type artificial reef were selected and evaluated to compare the potential environmental impact assessments. A total of 8 impact categories were selected for life cycle impact assessment (LCIA). MiLCA, IDEA and LIME 2 were employed for the LCA program, life cycle inventory database and LCIA methodology, respectively. As a result of life cycle inventory analysis, a total of 132 kinds of inflows and 69 kinds of outflows were derived. And it was found that a cube-type artificial reef had potentially greater influence than a jumbo-type artificial reef in 8 environmental impact categories.
