Abstract
The 70-year history of avalanche research on Sakhalin is outlined. In chronological order, in some cases, the main stages of special anti-avalanche activities, the creation of organizations and structures whose activities are aimed at reducing the incidence of avalanches. It is shown that measures to combat avalanches are most effective in the complex nature of their implementation.
