Abstract
The article has an overview of modern digital technologies that are introduced to optimize the operation of the railway complex: cloud storage, big data, Internet of things, artificial intelligence, blockchain. The authors pay attention to the advantages and peculiarities of digital railways, give practical examples of successful projects on Russian and foreign railways. Potential problems related to the introduction of new digital systems into existing IT infrastructure, adaptation of personnel and cybersecurity are highlighted.
