Abstract

This study is a study on a respect for life program to improve the emotions of youth inrural areas. Adolescence is a period greatly influenced by the social and culturalenvironment. In particular, growth progresses rapidly both physically and mentally, anddevelopmental and environmental stress is experienced in the process of findingself-identity. Crisis management also deals with emotional confusion and frustration. Thereis a shortage. This study was conducted using a self-administered Google questionnairetargeting rural youth in Region D. The survey period is from September 1 to October 30,2023, and a survey was conducted after the respect for life program. The survey toolswere emotional regulation, self-esteem, and stress. As a result of the study, adolescentswere emotionally unstable and showed characteristics such as falling into depression orshowing strong rebelliousness or aggression even to the slightest stimulus. Awareness ofrespect for life is a very important issue during adolescence. In particular, critical riskfactors for suicide include stress, depression, and low self-esteem, and positive protectivefactors include improved self-esteem and positive emotions. This study aimed to giveyouth positive awareness of the value of respect for life and the importance of respect forlife through respect for life education. In addition, this study analyzes the current situationof youth and suggests the effectiveness of respect for life for improving the quality of lifeof youth in rural areas as well as their emotions.
