한국 프로야구 선수들의 경기력과 연봉의 관계 분석

Abstract

본 연구는 프로야구 선수들의 경기력을 세분화하고 섬세하게 측정 할 수 있는 세이버메트릭스 기법을 적용하여 한국 프로야구 8개 구단의 타자들을 대상으로 세이버메트릭스 지수를 통해서 알아본 선수들의 경기력과 연봉간의 패턴을 분석하고자 한다. 연구 방법으로는 한국 프로야구 8개 구단의 2009년, 2010년도 타자들의 경기 기록과 차년도 연봉 자료를 수집한 후, 세이버메트릭스 지수를 계산하여 연봉과의 관계를 주성분분석을 통해 살펴보았다. 각 구단별로 일부 상이한 결과도 있었지만 전반적으로는 경기력이 높은 선수들에게 많은 연봉이 지급되고 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 각 구단 및 타자들이 연봉협상에 임할 때 중요한 참고 자료가 될 수 있다고 판단된다. This research deals with a relationship between the performance of Korean professional baseball players and their annual salaries. It is based on the sabermetrics, which measures the performance of baseball batters in a refined way. We collect the records of batters of eight professional baseball clubs during the season 2009 and 2010. Then, we calculate every index of the sabermetrics. Principal component analysis is used for examining the relationship between those indexes of sabermetrics and annual salary for the next year. In general, batters who show higher performance get more salary. The result of this research can be useful in order to reach an agreement on salary between a player and his club partner.
