Abstract
The paper considers the use of mathematical modeling in the educational process. The influence of model experiments on the development of students' cognitive activity is noted. The role of the functioning of the student scientific group (SSG) "Research of performance of details of motor-car technique" in a higher technical educational institution in the preparation of future highly qualified specialists is assessed.
