Abstract

Weeds are an intrinsic part of an agroecosystem. They reduce the yield of agricultural crops as they compete for resources (water, light, nutrients). Besides, weeds facilitate the development of insect pests and disease spread. Forty-three weed species, which belonged to twenty-two families, were identified in the examined potato fields in 2019–2022. Species from the families Asteraceae (nine species) and Poaceae (six species) were the most numerous. Segetal flora was characterized by a small number of multispecies genera and the predominance of single-species genera. Eighteen out of forty-three segetal plants were determined to be the reservoirs of viral infection. Keywords: AGROECOSYSTEM, SEGETAL FLORA, PLANT VIRUSES, POTATO
