Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the preference for developing a public uniform design for Gwangju metropolitan city’s subway crew. Data were collected from 330 male and female citizens in their 20s to 50s living in Gwangju metropolitan city during August 2019. Results were analyzed using frequency analysis, factor analysis, variance analysis, and regression analysis via SPSS 24.0. The results showed that the development of a uniform design for the public image of the city would improve the citizens’ satisfaction and help differentiate and enhance the city’s image. The most favored colors by citizens for the uniform design of the subway crew were blue, green, and red. Five factors that influenced the preference for the uniform were “functional design,” “visual design,” “differentiated design,” “fashionable design,” and “active-looking design.” The development of a uniform design as a public image can enhance users’ level of satisfaction with the subway and help differentiate the city’s image among other cities.
