Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of silver yoga stretching program on the change of physical fitness after the exercise as the result of conducting the program on female participants in the age of 80-90 for 8 months. For study subjects, the researcher explained them the purpose and procedures of study and selected twenty six 80-90 aged female elders with more than 80%’s participation among those who consented to the participation in the study. And for this study, they participated in 60 minutes’ Silver Yoga Stretching Program twice a week for 8 months from March to November, 2014. I measured their physical strength for three times before, during and after participation in exercise. The analysis result is summarized as follows. BR First, elderly persons’ aerobic endurance showed improvement af ter participation in the silver yoga stretching program, and such change was statistically meaningful. Second, elderly persons’ shoulder flexibility also showed improvement after participation in the silver yoga stretching program, and such change was statistically meaningful. Third, elderly persons’ static balance also showed improvement after participation in the silver yoga stretching program, and such change was statistically meaningful. Fourth, the elderly persons’ upper arm muscle strength also showed improvement after participation in the silver yoga stretching program, and such change was statistically meaningful. Fifth, the elderly persons’ lower limb muscle strength also showed improvement after participation in the silver yoga stretching program, and such change was statistically meaningful. BR Under the situation that the population is aging rapidly, physical health problems have emerged as social problems. As the result of this study, meaningful result was derived, that is, participation in silver yoga stretching program gave positive effect on elderly persons’ physical fitness improvement. Therefore, through the study on mitigation and resolution of the elderly persons’ problems, we can see that now it is necessary to understand and develop the interactions between aging society and elderly persons’ exercise.
