Abstract

From the frist appearance of Joker in 1940, Joker has always been the best evil for Batman and it will be. In this paper, I have been found what the differences of two Jokers. One of them is, in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, that I would say he as the pure evil. Nolan’s Joker has never had any origins, collective identity, and any possibilities of death. He always contaminates people into evil which they have never experienced. However, Todd Philips’s Joker has shown how the most pathetic clown becomes a protestant leader because of a great absurdity of society in Joker. He is not just an evil criminal, but the complicated Joker made by the corrupt society. Traditional Joker characters had never had a revolutionary character but an evil before Philips’ Joker.BR So I would like to study the two different Jokers functions, in the aspects of their the pure evilness and the revolutionary characteristics. Then, I will find out the possibilities of Joker’s new functions and the ways people can overcome evil and conflicts in this era.
