Abstract

Agricultural and livestock industries, which are too dependent on chemicals, adversely affect food production-the traditional function of farming area-and various public interest functions, including Improvement and purification of water resources, circulation of material and energy, ecological habitat, amenity of farming area. To address this issue, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs is implementing an Agricultural Environment Program. However, In privately owned land managed by individuals, the effects of impacts on soil, ecology and atmosphere can be ascertained, but it is difficult to measure such an effect for shared land managed by a joint. This study verified the effect of community consciousness, like community activities for which such effects are difficult to verify, on attitudes of participation in agricultural environmental programs. The result shows community consciousness arising from various autonomous activities influenced the attitude of participation in agricultural environment programs. In other words, the level of local consciousness, social interaction consciousness, and common bond consciousness influenced the attitude of direct and indirect participation in agricultural environment programs.
