Abstract

Attempts to use serpentinite in agriculture as a soil ameliorant led to the need to study its effect on living organisms. For this, serpentinite from the Kabardino-Balkarian deposit was added to the food for Westar rats. Taking serpentinite led to inflammatory-destructive changes both in the bronchi and lung parenchyma of rats, as well as to the restructuring of blood vessels with the formation of hypertension in the pulmonary circulation. Khabaz serpentinite contains nickel salts. Perhaps nickel had a damaging effect on the broncho-pulmonary system of rats. For the sake of safety for living objects, it is necessary to clean the rock from nickel salts and continue research.
