Abstract

Purpose: This study is to identify the structural relationship among the self-leadership, resilience and sport ability beliefs of athletes.<BR> Method: A total of 278 athletes officially registered with the Korea Association of Athletics Federations in 2020 participated in this study. Frequency analysis, technical statistics analysis, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling were conducted.<BR> Results: The results, first of all, showed that the behavior-focused strategy of the athlete’s self-leadership had a positive effect on resilience. Second, the natural reward strategy of self-leadership had a positive effect on resilience. Third, the constructive thought strategy of self-leadership positively affected resilience. Fourth, resilience had a positive effect on the incremental belief of sport ability beliefs. Fifth, resilience had no statistically significant effect on the entity belief of sport ability beliefs.<BR> Conclusion: The strategic use of self-leadership effectively encourages resilience and it has a positive effect on incremental belief. Therefore, we recommend the track and field athletes to actively utilize self-leadership strategies.
