Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of Hittite costume culture and to increase an understanding of costume culture in Egypt, Mesopotamia, and the Mediterranean region. In particular, this study focuses on the costumes carved in Yazilikaya relief of the ancient Hittite Empire. The basic attire of Hittite man are a loincloth, a wide belt, a pointed hat, and shoes with upward toecaps. It also consisted of a long overskirt with open front, a floor-length skirt that jutted out on the sides, an ankle-length robe, a shawl with pointed ends, and a round hat.
