Abstract

Statement of the problem. In the article, in the light of new materials of the biography and creativity of Vsevolod Ivanov, his publishing activity and journalism of 1916–1920 are considered. The purpose of the article is to analyze the publishing work of Ivanov and his journalism in the context of the historical and political situation and the party struggle in Siberia in the first postrevolutionary years. Research methodology. The article uses comparative historical textological methods, the method of historical and literary commentary. Research results. The article shows that throughout the entire Siberian period of his work, publishing was extremely important for Ivanov, a typographic worker and a novice writer. He considered publishing in the context of the tasks of the Siberian regionalists. Analysis is given to an issue of the one-day newspaper The employees’ day / Den Sluzhashchikh (Kurgan, 1916); articles devoted to the creation of a publishing house of writers-workers and to the release of books necessary for Siberia; an issue of the newspaper Workshops of Proletarian Writers and Artists of Sogry/ Tsekha proletarskikh pisateley i khudozhnikov Sogry (1918), the materials of which are presented in the context of the writer’s party affiliation – his membership in the Menshevik-Internationalist Party of the New Life group. The responses in the Omsk press in the spring of 1918 to the release of the Sogry newspaper are given, as well as assessments of the publication by representatives of various parties. Conclusions. Analysis of publishing activity and journalism of Ivanov 1916–1920 shows how important it was for a young writer to contribute solution to one of the pressing Siberian regional issues – the need of education in the country. He sought to achieve this goal in various political situations, under various governments that formed in Siberia during this period.
