Abstract

This study was aimed at the mutual influences between the motivation of walking travelers, the nature of their choice of walking trails, satisfaction and the resulting degree of tourism behavior. To achieve this goal, data was collected from trail walkers who experienced walking tours. In total, 600 questionnaires were distributed online and offline, 466 surveys were collected and 23 inappropriate responses were excluded for the analysis. The results of empirical analyses are as follows. Both internal and external motivations for taking the walking tour had a significant positive influence on walking trail selection. Walking travel selection properties had a significant positive effect on satisfaction and behavioral intention. In addition, walking travelers’ satisfaction is positively related to behavioral intention. However, walking travelers’ motivation showed that both internal and external motivations did not significantly affect satisfaction.
