Abstract

The article examines the provisions formulated by the leaders of “new religious consciousness” who, relying on the popular XX-century conceptions of Catholic modernists, Gnostics, Protestants, Buddhists, occultists, etc., tried to add pragmatism to Christianity proposing essential dogmatic changes, which involve deification of a human being, recognizing the identity of Paganism and Christianity, culture and religion. Some religious leaders considered “new religious consciousness” not only as a trend of philosophy, God-seeking but also as a new religious doctrine, “Third Testament”, which opens a new era, the “Age of the Holy Spirit”. “New religious consciousness” mostly goes beyond the Orthodox doctrine and often contradicts it decisively.
