Abstract

Purpose. To present a clinical case of dirofilariasis of the eye in a resident of Perm region. Clinical case. Patient O., born in 1971, turned to the duty ophthalmologist in November 2022 with complaints of discomfort, feeling of a foreign body, redness of the inner corner of the right eye. After a standard ophthalmological examination, the diagnosis was made: invasion of the conjunctiva with a foreign body (round worm?) in the right eye. Conducted surgical treatment: removal of a foreign body (roundworm) from under the conjunctiva of the right eye. After a laboratory study, the final diagnosis was made: dirofilariosis. Results. A clinical case of a rare disease, dirofilariasias of the eye, is presented. This pathology is not endemic for Perm region. Conclusion. Surgical treatment of dirofilariasis of the eye is a radical method. The considered clinical case reminds doctors of their alertness about this rare pathology.
