Abstract

A total of 238 patients presenting with the diagnosis of myopia or habitually excessive accommodation strain were examined and treated. It was shown that the introduction of antioxidative drugs in the combined treatment of the above disorders normalized the antioxidant properties of blood plasma and improved the blood supply to the eye which as a result increased the positive relative accommodation. The composite antioxidant drugs proved to exhibit the especially high therapeutic efficacy. Given the numerous reports of the successful use of this group of drugs in various ophthalmic pathologies, the great potential of this therapy area makes it expedient to search for new substances with antioxidant activity, as well as the best ways to administer them.
