Abstract

The article discusses the connection between poetic subjectivity and spatial structures in Gennadii Aigi's poetry. The spatial image of “pole” (field) is crucial for the poet, as it possesses a number of stable features, such as the presence of border, observation point and relief. The same traits are present in another spatial image of Aigi's early poetry – the image of “poliana” (clearing). These two related spatial entities constitute a specific intermediate type of space located between the woods and the countryside; the in-betweenness of this space reflects the in-betweenness of poetic subjectivity and its links with different types of space.
