Abstract

The paper deals with the problems of rationing reliability indicators in the early stages of machine design, which allow the designer to develop the entire list of crucial parts in terms of reliability, and provide a given level of reliability. By analyzing the existing methods of rationing the reliability, we revealed their insufficiency for design, as well as contradictions associated with the use of the exponential law of reliability for this purpose. We synthesized an alternative approach to rationing, which makes it possible to perform a complete structural analysis of the project: from the reliability of the system as a whole to the parts, whose reliability determines the reliability of machines. At the structural level of parts and other elements whose failures are not sudden, the use of the exponential law is eliminated, but the inherent simplicity of mathematical operations is preserved.
