Abstract

The genesis of the concept of information, which changed and transformed depending on the epoch, is revealed; such transitional stages in changing the essential characteristics of information as the emergence of writing, the first libraries, systematization and allocation of sciences, the emergence of the first encyclopedia, semaphore and telegraph, the development of automation and the birth of cybernetics, microprocessor, the development of computer technology, the Internet, etc. are considered. Each subsequent stage of change in the understanding of information is a synthesis of all previous technologies. This article reflects the process of searching for one's own philosophical definition of information, an attempt is made to look at this problem from the point of view of using the principle of historicism and dialectical method, which determines the relevance of the research. Information is proposed to be understood as a form of transmission of human experience. Changing this form leads to the decentralization of knowledge, its universal accessibility, which ultimately precedes large-scale changes in human society. In this regard, the philosophical study of the conceptual prerequisites for understanding this phenomenon is very promising.
