Abstract

The author raises the question: why the United States, the United Kingdom and the EU, condemning the military coup in Myanmar, criticizing the current military administration, announcing sanctions, adopting resolutions, calling for an end to violence and dialogue of the conflicting parties, in fact, only verbally support the fighters resistance in Myanmar, denying them real help, as is done in relation to other countries, in particular, Ukraine? Representatives of the West demonstrate concern over the current deep crisis in Myanmar, at the same time they do not officially recognize the parallel Government of National Unity formed from legitimately elected deputies − members of the National League for Democracy. The author gives several answers to this question, although he believes that one explanation is enough – this is the opportunistic approach of Western countries to the problem.
