Abstract
The main theoretical concept of the author is the concept of cultural space based on P. Bourdieu's theory of social space. The article substantiates the idea of the role of the regional art museum in the regional cultural space. The author defines this role as a system-forming one. The article presents statistical data on the dynamics of the development of museums in the Siberian Federal District from open sources. Justifying the system-forming role of the Novosibirsk State Art Museum in the region, the author cites the facts of the socio-cultural activity of the museum. The article concludes on the need for cooperation between museums and other institutions. The author considers it necessary to find a balance between preserving cultural heritage and adapting to the changing preferences and needs of visitors.
