Abstract
The article shows the role and importance of regions in strengthening state unity in the context of the need to harmonize interethnic relations in the country. The importance of implementing measures by state authorities, taking into account the national characteristics and needs of each region, is empha-sized, and the need to consolidate in legislation at the regional level the principles of preserving and enhancing the spiritual, historical and cultural heritage and potential of the multinational people of the Russian Federation through promoting the ideas of patriotism and unity is substantiated and friend-ship of peoples, interethnic harmony
