Abstract

In this paper, a weighted least square (WLS)-based state estimation algorithm is proposed to improve the reliability of measurement data used in centralized protection systems for substation automation research. In this paper, the theory of state estimation based on WLS is explained, and the SW development process based on algorithm is explained. The IEC-61850-based centralized protection system was developed using the MMS-Ease Lite library tool and uses a database for storing measured data. In addition, Python-based state estimation and bad data detection programs were designed to verify the suitability of WLS-based state estimation algorithms in centralized protection systems after linking three environments. The verification simulation system uses Real Time Digital Simulator to generate voltage and current data.
