Abstract

Introduction. The author of the article analyzes the state of the mass sports industry in the regions of modern Russia (in the example of the Southern Federal District) in order to ensure availability of mass sports services for young people aged 21-30 years as the most vulnerable group in terms of meeting the need for mass sports activities. The relevance of the study is determined, associated with a decrease in the involvement in mass sports activities of young people aged 21-30 years. Methods. The empirical study was conducted using the method of analyzing documents, including resolutions of regional authorities and the results of the implementation of adopted programs for the development of mass sports. Results and its discussion. The study analyzes those restrictions in mass sports that are potentially capable of generating barriers that prevent a certain part of young people from being systematically included in mass sports activities. Among the barriers that worsen accessibility indicators is the growth of commercialization, manifested in an increase in the overall percentage of young people aged 21-30 who are involved in mass sports activities in the paid services segment. The study of the material and technical condition of sports infrastructure aimed at the age group of 21-30 years showed that the quantity and quality of sports facilities does not correspond to the real needs of young people, their willingness to engage in mass sports activities. The equipment and development of sports institutions has a situational, selective nature, with priority towards professional clubs, which creates inequality in the conditions between professional and mass sports. Those young people who cannot pay for sports are increasingly deviating from a healthy lifestyle to antisocial, additive manifestations, which entails an increase in socially-conditioned diseases, manifestations of deviant and delinquent behavior among representatives of this social group.
