Abstract

With the rapid development of digital technology, societal changes have a significant impact on mental health and behavior, particularly among China's MZ generation. Their unique life experiences and social backgrounds have led to a high concern for mental health and differing preferences for traditional psychological treatments. This study explores the influence of art therapy characteristics on the treatment acceptance intention of the Chinese MZ generation, focusing on non-verbal nature, form diversity, self-expressiveness, and safety. After reviewing relevant literature and analyzing representative cases, a research model and hypotheses are proposed. A questionnaire survey among the MZ generation with experience or acceptance of art therapy collects empirical data. Multiple regression analysis confirms the impact of art therapy's non-verbal nature, self-expressiveness, and safety on treatment acceptance intention (p-values: 0.000, 0.008, 0.000, respectively, all <0.05), indicating a positive effect. However, form diversity (p-value: 0.116) shows no significant impact, leading to the rejection of its hypothesis.
