Abstract

The present study is to explore the polices that would keep the quality of secondary education in Korea through the change of curriculum implementation rather than through an institutional reform. In the study, I tried to do four different works. First, after analyzing the socio-historical character of secondary education, I demanded on redefining the nature of secondary education in Korea. Second, I tried to establish a theoretical framework on which we are able to locate a variety of curriculum implementation policies. Third, I tried to concretize the proposed policies of curriculum implementation by providing an example of diversified curriculum implementation. Fourth, I examined about the usage of the proposed policies of curriculum implementation and the probability of revising national curriculum and/or modifying national curriculum guidelines. As a conclusion, I suggested that the proposed curriculum implementation policies should be field-tested before the wide application to secondary schools in order to contribute to the quality education in Korea.
