Abstract

Today our republic experiences a need for creating high-quality, cheap sorts and hybrids of cucumbers that are resistant to local climatic conditions. The development of prime seed farming, as well as providing people and farms with seeds and increasing the export of products are the topical issues to deal with. The article describes the characteristics of the sorts of cucumbers adapted for cultivation in the open fields, including the one called ‘Sevinch’. The study reveals the advantages, productivity and quality of the crop of a new variety, which also highlights the need for creating local sorts and hybrids for open and protected lands. The methods of selection work, morphological, biological and economic characteristics of zoned varieties and hybrids of cucumbers developed in Tashkent State University have been presented.
