Abstract

This study examined the moderated mediating effect of self-compassion on the relationship among evaluative concerns perfectionism, rumination and academic procrastination for 358 students in universities nationwide. The results of this study are as follows. First, rumination fully mediated the relationship between evaluative concerns perfectionism and academic procrastination. Second, self-compassion moderated the relationship between rumination and academic procrastination. Third, self-compassion moderated the mediating effect of rumination between evaluative concerns perfectionism and academic procrastination. The results showed that evaluative concerns perfectionism affected academic procrastination through the mediation of rumination, and the mediating effect of rumination in the relationship between evaluative concerns perfectionism and academic procrastination depended on the level of self-compassion.
