Abstract

The aim of the study is to determine the types of phraseological units transformation in M. Zoshchenko’s works, as well as the structural and semantic features of the transformed phraseological units. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that the types of the authorial transformations of the identified fixed units make it possible to find out the main directions of transformations in this language area, represent the specifics of the stylistic use of such phraseological units, as well as the idiostyle features of a particular writer. As a result, it is proved that the semantics of phraseological units-transforms is closely related to the context, the change in compatibility, dephraseologisation and language game; the acquisition of additional semantic shades by a text enhances its holistic perception by the reader.
