Abstract

The article considers phraseological units with anthroponyms in the English language. The purpose of the work is to analyse the phraseological units with the component of forenames or surnames, to study their etymology and semantics. As a result of the study, the author identifies the groups of phraseological units, which include such anthroponyms as biblical, taken from mythology, literature, folk legends, associated with the history of England, originated in the United States and Australia and others. The novelty of the research is in the systematization of these phraseological units based on the source of their origin and semantic meaning.
