Abstract

China’s accession to the World Trade Organization is a topic of great importance and a catalyst for changes in the political-economic environment around the world. The dimensions of these changes are the starting point of the research in this paper, which will attempt to answer the questions of how the relationship between the WTO and China has developed historically and how the role of the Asian country in the functioning of the organization is changing. The article also explores how the integration of the PRC into the world economy affects its development. It analyzes the impact of Chinese competition on some sectors and how this affects Western expectations of China’s WTO membership.
