Abstract

A thermodynamic criterion – surface activity – is proposed in order to describe the reactivity of powder materials obtained by mechanical grinding. It is shown that there is a functional relationship between the surface activity calculated from the specific surface values of powder materials determined by gas trapping method and the specific surface of these systems determined by gas permeability method, which allows us to conclude about the effectiveness of mechanical activation of raw materials systems.
