Abstract

Korean traditional tea ceremony activities have become a part of leisure activities in traditional society and modern society(Refer to Survey on National Leisure Activities). However, the number of people participating in Korean traditional tea ceremony activities as leisure has dramatically decreased in modern Korea society. And there is no academic investigation to find out that cause.
This paper analyzed the reason why Korean traditional tea ceremony activities are not activated as leisure activities. In this paper, we use hierarchical model of leisure constraints as a theoretical framework to determine leisure participation. And we introduced a path analysis model based on structural equation as a methodology to analyze empirically the hierarchical model of leisure constraints . Finally, we classify the factors as leisure constraints in tea ceremony activities as intrapersonal, interpersonal, and structural factors. And for future empirical analysis, we proposed the variables considering the value and characteristics of tea cultures.
The theoretical and empirical analysis model established in this study will contribute to the scientific analysis of the constraints on the Korean traditional tea ceremony activities in the future.
