Abstract

The aim of the study is to identify the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of eponymic nominations in the sublanguage of medicine. The article deals with the problems of terminology standardization since this phenomenon significantly expands the definition of a special notion and makes it possible to identify the main trends in the process of such term formation. It has been noted that a number of researchers focus on the general cultural and educational significance of such units of scientific discourse. The scientific novelty is due to the fact that for the first time positive and negative characteristics of eponyms of the sublanguage of medicine, their quantitative distribution in twelve terminological systems are obtained and described in terminological practice; formal structures and morphological-syntactic models are indicated. As a result of the study, it has been found that the eponymic nominations of the sublanguage of medicine are dominated by negative characteristics, and therefore it is necessary for the scientific community to develop a unified approach to replacing such terms, to create strict rules governing the assignment of eponymic nominations to scientific notions.
