Abstract

The article deals with the characteristic features of the historiography devoted to studying domestic monumental sculptural plastic arts in the cultural and environmental space of Moscow during the XVIII - the beginning of the XXI century. The authors confirm the fact that, despite its relevance and popularity, this topic in the national science remains one-sidedly studied. The conclusion is made that it is necessary to carry out a generalizing research devoted to the monumental sculpture of Moscow urban environment that would allow identifying the role of the capital monumental plastic arts in the general cultural and historical development of the country.
